James P. Aylward
Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Aylward is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Sy.Med Development.
He joined Sy.Med in February of 1997 and was named President and Chief Executive
Officer in May of 1997. Under his leadership, Sy.Med has won numerous business achievement
awards and became an MGMA AdminiServe Partner and a Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner.
Prior to joining Sy.Med, Mr. Aylward held sales and marketing management positions
with three Tennessee HMOs: Complete Health, HealthWise of America and American Medical
Security. He was an integral part of the senior management startup team at each
of these companies, and was responsible for growing the health plan membership from
zero members to tens of thousands of members in two years. United HealthCare acquired
both Complete Health and HealthWise of America. After earning his Bachelor of Science
degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, Mr. Aylward began his business
career at Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation. Over a seven year period,
he held various positions, including Territory Manager, and was responsible for
all sales and marketing activities in Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Thomas H. Luton
Director of Finance and Administration
Mr. Luton joined Sy.Med in October of 2003 as the Director of Finance and Administration,
bringing over thirteen years of medical practice management experience and over
twenty years of financial management experience to the company. During his tenure
as executive director of a specialty surgical practice, he saw first hand the challenges
faced by medical practices in the area of provider credentialing. His duties at
Sy.Med encompass all financial aspects of the company, as well as contracting, personnel
management, and general administrative duties. Mr. Luton began his career with a
certified public accounting practice in Nashville before moving into the medical
management profession. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Accounting
degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Lance A. Hebert
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
A healthcare and information technology expert, Lance Hebert joined Sy.Med Development
in 2000 and has played a key role to help grow the company into the nation's leader
in credentialing software. Serving as Vice President, Sales & Marketing since
2009, he is responsible for Sy.Med's national sales team.
Lance's tenure at Sy.Med extends over more than a decade, during which he developed
his operations and technical staff management experience through several leadership
roles. He was promoted to Vice President, Client Services in 2003, focusing on improving
software implementation and client support. Lance spent 2005–2009 as Vice President,
Technical Resources, with responsibilities including product installation, application
testing, and upgrade distribution.
Lance earned his Business Administration degree from Auburn University with a concentration
in Management Information Systems. Additionally, Lance earned Microsoft Certified
Professional and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certifications by passing
six Microsoft exams covering operating systems, networking, and database administration.
Roger Platt
Vice President, Client Services
Mr. Platt is currently Vice President, Client Services of Sy.Med Development. He
joined Sy.Med in October of 2002 as a member of the Client Services department and
was promoted to his current position in July 2010. As Vice President of Client Services,
he is responsible for product installation, application testing, upgrade distribution,
technical support and infrastructure management. Prior to joining Sy.Med, Mr. Platt
was with Dialogic Communications Corporation (DCC) in Franklin, TN. While at Dialogic,
he gained experience with software development with a focus on relational databases
and statistical analysis while creating databases and GIS maps for DCC’s emergency
notification system. Mr. Platt earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Process
Management from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana.
Bill Locke
Chief Information Officer, Product Development
Mr. Locke is currently Chief Information Officer, Product Development of Sy.Med
Development. He joined Sy.Med in April of 2003. Mr. Locke’s responsibilities at
Sy.Med include all aspects of product development, conception, planning and implementation.
Prior to joining Sy.Med Mr. Locke was a consultant with Oakwood Systems Group Inc
where he was the original author of OneApp Pro. During his tenure at Oakwood, Mr.
Locke also worked for various other clients, such as MAPCO, Inc's Corporate Headquarters
(The Williams Companies Inc.) and HCA Inc. (formerly Hospital Corporation of America).
At HCA he led various projects, including delivery of patient data to physicians
through a secured internet connection drawing patient data from legacy patient information
systems. Additionally at MicroHelp Inc., the original creator of an Uninstaller
program for Windows, Mr. Locke managed a development department that produced programming
tools for Microsoft programming languages as well as end user utilities. Mr. Locke
is the author of “Visual C++ for Visual Basic Developers”, Addison-Wesley and has
spoken around the world at programming conferences, including Visual Basic Insider’s
Technical Summit (VBITS) and VSLive on subjects including Visual Basic and Visual
C++. Mr. Locke graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science,
major in accounting.
